I usually work with those clients who are already in recovery or just starting their journey. The consultation is a good time for me to assess whether we’d be a good fit or if I need to refer you to another clinician or a higher level of care. Mindful Eating Journal - If you are just starting out, this is a great tool to use to increase your awareness of your physical sensations, emotions, triggers and roadblocks to recovery. Try to have your meal at the same time everyday without distractions. Notice how your hunger sensations, your thoughts and your emotions. You can eventually use mindfulness to notice the details of what you are eating as much as possible— the taste, the texture, the temperature of the food, etc. You might not be able to do this right away, and that is okay. You can start with noticing your hunger level and feelings before and after your meal and go from there. Please see below for an example of a Mindful Eating Journal by Pamela Fergusson.
